DBT is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eastern philosophies aimed at increasing a client’s Mindfulness, as well as improving Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Emotion Regulation.
DBT focuses on creating a validating environment where clients can learn to manage their emotions, their behaviors and their relationships with self and others. DBT Skills are taught individually and in groups where clients can learn and practice skills together.
DBT Skills have been studied to be extremely effective in reducing the symptoms of Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder. Danna Markson, LCSW and her co-leader, Debra Gill, PhD, offer DBT Skills groups SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO TARGET BULIMIA AND BINGE EATING.
