For teens with Depression, Anxiety, Self-Harm Behaviors, Eating Disorders, School Pressure, and Family or Peer Relationship Issues.  Participants learn concrete strategies to identify, understand and manage their emotions, plus learn skills to form and maintain healthy peer relationships, practiced in the group environment.  The focus of this group is concrete skill building to help teens manage and improve their lives.

Do you know a teen who is struggling with a pattern of self-destructive behaviors followed by self-loathing?  Are they lacking the understanding, motivation or tools necessary to acknowledge the pattern and make healthy changes?  Have you tried other therapies before, but they don't seem to be effective or haven't been a good fit?

Is your teen anxious? Avoidant? Inflexible? Has a fixed mindset?

Do they struggle with their identity? Body image?

Do you know a teen who has immature or ineffective coping strategies for emotion dysregulation or stress?

Does your teen have a difficult time making or sustaining friendships?

Are they impulsive? Reactive? Unpredictable?

Do you offer wonder what your teens adult life will look like if they don’t work on obtaining more effective skills??

Our Licensed Therapists can guide your teen to understand the HEALTHY CHOICES that are available and to actually learn to use them.

We help teens get in touch with the obstacles blocking them from positive thoughts, urges and behaviors and learn to internalize new healthy ones.

DBT Skills can help!

Our group therapy program is unique in that we encourage our clients to continue working with their outside therapists when enrolled in our groups.  We will collaborate weekly with your therapist to create a cohesive Treatment Team that focuses on comprehensive, high-quality care.

In group therapy, clients gain support and understanding from others with similar experiences. It also offers the opportunity to learn to express and tolerate difficult emotions in a safe and nurturing environment.  Group therapy is particularly helpful for teens who feel isolated or alone.

DBT includes four sets of behavioral skills.

  • Mindfulness: the practice of being fully aware and present in this one moment

  • Distress Tolerance: how to tolerate pain in difficult situations, not change it

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: how to ask for what you want and say no while maintaining self-respect and relationships with others

  • Emotion Regulation: how to understand and manage difficult emotions

There is increasing evidence that DBT skills training alone is a promising intervention for a wide variety of both clinical and nonclinical populations and across settings. -  BehavioralTech

Enrollment is open at any point in the group cycle.  SOME SKILLS ARE BETTER THAN NO SKILLS!

An assessment is required in order to join this group.
