For teens with Depression, Anxiety, Self-Harm Behaviors, Eating Disorders, School Pressure, and Family or Peer Relationship Issues. Participants learn concrete strategies to identify, understand and manage their emotions, plus learn skills to form and maintain healthy peer relationships, practiced in the group environment. The focus of this group is concrete skill building to help teens manage and improve their lives.
Studies show that teens are conditioned to learn with their peers. This group format allows participants to hear similar stories from other group members, diminishing the feeling of social isolation.
Many parents express the concern their child will learn “bad” habits from others in group. This concern is understandable, however our licensed therapists are all trained in how to facilitate group dynamics so that discussion of deep and personal subject matter is managed carefully and with a sharp focus on what is appropriate to share within group. For subjects that might be triggering, the group members adhere to the Group Rules so that the group remains a safe space all participants mental health is attended to and prioritized.
