  • The DBT Introduction: Introducing the four pillars: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
  • Stress Management: Practical strategies for overcoming immediate overwhelm and establishing a foundation for the transition ahead.

Week 2: Regulation & Social Dynamics This week shifts from internal stabilization to navigating the environment and interpersonal relationships.

  • Emotional Regulation: Deepening the DBT skills to manage the "highs and lows" of a new academic environment.
  • Academic Success Strategies: Connecting executive functioning skills (like time management and organization) directly to course loads and study habits.
  • Social Skills & Boundaries: Developing healthy relationship habits and the ability to set firm boundaries with peers.

Week 3: Independence & Self-Advocacy The final phase focuses on long-term sustainability and ensuring the student can navigate the system autonomously.

  • Problem-Solving: Developing a framework for handling unexpected challenges without immediate outside intervention.
  • Self-Advocacy Strategies: Teaching students how to voice their needs to professors, advisors, and disability services effectively.
  • The Personalized College Success Plan: Synthesizing all skills into a final, actionable document.

Group is 3 sessions, with each lasting for 2 hours.

You are able to mix sessions from each series, so, for example, if you cannot attend session two in the first series, you can attend session two in the second series – we just need to know in advance.

No, this is a 3 session series developed for each session to work with others to identify the skills that will most benefit a young person transitioning to college. The full series is paid for in advance and no refunds are given for missed sessions.

The series costs $600 for the 3 sessions, which are each 2 hours long. The full series is paid for in advance during the time of registration.

Each session integrates lessons with meaningful discussion and activities. Each participant will be given a binder with content on all of skills taught during the lessons, activities to be completed during and after group and will ultimately contain their personalized success plan.

Yes, we will do a brief 1:1 assessment to ensure that the group is a good match for the young person. The assessment is also necessary for us to submit the group to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Yes, since we do an assessment prior to group, these group sessions are reimbursable by insurance. If we have all of your insurance information during the registration process, we will automatically submit the claims to your insurance for you.

No, you do not. You have already had an assessment and your clinician will work with the group leader to ensure the group is a good match for your needs.
